Ukraine – Netherlands
We are heading to the Arena Nationala in Bucurest where Ukraine will face North Macedonia in a game from Group C of Euro 2020. Now it’s a pretty good time to have a look at it and preview it.
The Ukrainian team was really close to doing something remarkable against the Netherlands on Sunday. Andriy Shevchenko’s team was two goals behind against Oranje, but they managed to make it 2-2 with strikes from Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk. Ukraine were ready to celebrate a point in Amsterdam, but the Dutch scored a late winner after a header from Denzel Dumfries.
This late goal really hurt Ukraine’s morale, but now Shevchenko’s boys must regroup and show their worth again. In the face of North Macedonia they have an opponent they could win against and make a step towards the 1/8-finals.
Despite the result against the Netherlands, Andriy Shevchenko had enough reasons to feel happy with his team’s performance. Most likely he will keep Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk in attack. Meanwhile Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko is becoming really important in the midfield area.
North Macedonia are a debutant at European Championships. The Balkan side met Austria in their first game, but they suffered a 1-3 defeat at in Bucuresti. The legendary Goran Pandev managed to score for the Lynxes, but until the end of the game the Austrians were more prolific in attack.
North Macedonia’s head coach Igor Angelovski could be making some changes in his line-up for the next match. Players like Ivan Trichkovski, Tihomir Kostadinov and Egzon Bejtulai could be included in the line-up to face Ukraine.
That’s the preview for the Euro 2020 clash between Ukraine and North Macedonia in Bucuresti on Thursday. Both teams lost their first matches in the tournament, but Ukraine looked somehow better against the Netherlands. Maybe they are the favorites here.
