Real Madrid – Borussia Dortmund
The current title holder Real Madrid hosts Borussia Dortmund in a match from Group H of the UEFA Champions League.
This match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is much more important for Dortmund than it is for Real Madrid. The Spanish giants already know that no matter what happens, they will finish second in this group. That’s because Tottenham are currently untouchable at the first place in the group.
Meanwhile Borussia Dortmund are still fighting for the third place in the group and the chance to continue their European campaign in the Europa League. The German team is currently on par with APOEL – both teams have 2 points won so far. In the other game in the group APOEL are travelling to London to face Tottenham.
Borussia Dortmund’s performance in the Champions League this season is a dissapointment. They are usually performing strong in this competition, but this season they underachieved. They are without a win in five matches already, being unable to beat even the outsider APOEL. You can be sure that the manager Peter Bosz would like to forget this campaign as soon as possible.
As for Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane is still trying to convince everyone that there’s no such thing as crisis at the Bernabeu. But the facts are clear – Real Madrid lost the first place in this group and in the same time Los Blancos are trailing on a serious distance behind Barcelona in La Liga. It’s obvious that Real Madrid are underachieving since the start of the new season. It’s Zidane’s responsibility to find a solution to the problems and get Real Madrid back on top level as soon as possible.
It’s interesting to see how Zinedine Zidane will approach this game. WIll he give a chance to his backup players and give the key figures a rest? We are about to see that.
