Napoli – Brescia
Napoli hosts Brescia in a game from the sixth round of the Italian Serie A. Let’s take a look at this fixture at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday, shall we?
After five rounds played in the Serie A so far, Napoli are currently fourth in the league standings with 9 points, being 6 points behind the leader Inter Milan. Few days ago the Azzurri suffered a surprising home defeat at the San Paolo, losing for a second time since the start of the season. Carlo Ancelotti’s boys hosted Cagliari, but suffered a 0-1 defeat. Lucas Castro scored the only goal in the game just three minutes before the end. In the second half Ancelotti put the strikers Fernando Llorente and Arkadiusz Milik, but it didn’t help.
In this game against Brescia Napoli will be without the centre back Kalidou Koulibaly, who got sent off in the match against Cagliari. This is a problem for Carlo Ancelotti, becuase Koulibaly is arguably Napoli’s best defender.
Brescia are approaching this game after a loss as well. During the week the newcomers hosted the champion Juventus at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti, but got beaten with 1-2. Alfredo Donnarumma scored an early opener for Brescia, but Juve secured the win with goals from Jhon Chancellor (own goal) and Miralem Pjanic.
Against Juventus the star striker Mario Balotelli made his debut for Brescia. Super Mario played the whole 90 minutes against the Old Lady, but didn’t have the luck to score. We suppose that the manager Eugenio Corini is going to use him again versus Napoli on Sunday.
Napoli are the favourite against Brescia in this match, but it was the same against Cagliari, too. Carlo Ancelotti’s boys now know that they can lose in any moment, if they are not focused enough. Let’s see how they are going to react.
