Kosovo – England
In a last round from the European qualifiers, Kosovo hosts England in a game from Group A. The English side already won the group, but now they will try to finish the campaign with a 7th win from 8 games played. Meanwhile Kosovo are going to finish third in the group, which is a good achievement for them.
Except of their defeat against Czech Republic in Prague, England were flawless in this group. They won 6 of their 7 games during the campaign and they proved that their positive performance at the last World Cup was not a fluke. In 7 games played so far, the Three Lions managed to score the impressive 33 goals.
On Thursday Gareth Southgate’s boys made another spectacle at the Wembley. England hosted Montenegro and enjoyed a spectacular 7-0 win. The captain Harry Kane scored a hattrick for the hosts, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham also put the ball in the net. Montenegro’s Aleksandar Sofranac scored himself an own goal.
After securing the top position in the group, England’s manager Gareth Southgate could make some rotations in his team against Kosovo. Players like Tammy Abraham, James Maddison, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Joe Gomez could get a starting spot.
For Kosovo it has been a positive qualifying campaign. They currently have 11 points in this group and they are going to finish third, which is a very good achievement for this young country. If they manage to get a positive result against England on Sunday, this would be a perfect finish of the campaign for them.
On Thursday Kosovo had a visit to the Czech Republic, which they lost with 1-2. Atdhe Nuhiu opened the score for Kosovo, but the hosts turned it around with goals from Kral and Celustka.
That’s a pretty interesting clash right here between Kosovo and England. If the visitors decide to save some energy in this game, it could end in a really surprising way.
