Genoa – Roma
Genoa are hosting Roma in a game from the 19th round of the Italian Serie A. The home team is currently 12th in the standings with 23 points won, while Roma are second with 38 points – four less the leader and current champion Juventus. Juve are with a game in hand, though.
Roma are proving themselves to be the most dangerous contender to Juventus’ crown in the Serie A. The team from the capital won four of its last five games, losing only against Juve at the Juventus Stadium in Turin. This was a bad result for Roma in the title race, but there are still many matches left until the end of the season, so the hope is still there.
Genoa are enjoying another average season in the Serie A. Ivan Jurić’s team won just one of its last five clashes and lost three of them. Things are still looking okay for Genoa, though, as the team is 13 points away from the relegation zone. It looks like Genoa’s only goal this season is going to be a place in the middle of the table, because it doesn’t seem that they are capable of doing anything more than this.
Roma’s manager Luciano Spalletti will be without Alessandro Florenzi, who is expected to return at the end of the month. Daniele De Rossi, Thomas Vermaelen and Konstantinos Manolas are all doubtful, while Leandro Daniel Paredes is back in training for the capital team.
Genoa are still without the Portuguese midfielder Miguel Veloso, who is out of play until the beginning of February. Leonardo Pavoletti is also healing from a knee injury.
If we leave aside the loss against Juventus, Roma are showing some really solid form lately. This makes them a heavy favourite against Genoa, especially with the title race still being open.
