Galatasaray – Konyaspor
Istanbul giants Galatasaray are ready to end their season in the Turkish Super Lig, hosting Konyaspor in their final game of the campaign.
We could say that it was a dissapointing season for Galatasaray. Although they still have a chance to beat rivals Fenerbahce for the 3rd spot, this is not what this club is always aiming for. Galatasaray’s ambitions are always the same – the gold medals and qualification for the Champions League. But this season the most they could do is to qualify for the Europa League.
Galatasaray are currently 4th in the Super Lig standings, having the same amount of points as Fenerbahce. In the same time Fenerbahce are visiting the outsider Adanaspor, so we are about to see which one of these two teams will finish their campaign at 3rd place.
Galatasaray were not consistent enough this season to reach its goals. It’s enough to remind that they have lost 10 of their games so far. Just for comparison – the champion Besiktas lost just three matches during the campaign. The 2nd Istanbul Basaksehir also lost just three times in the Super Lig in the last year. These numbers are proving how badly Galatasaray performed in the league, compared to the two teams who fought for the title.
As for Konyaspor, they performed as the typical mid-table team. Konyaspor are currently 10th in the standings, but if they win a point against Galatasaray, they are going to beat Kasimpasa for the 9th spot. Right now they have the same amount of points with Kasimpasa, but their stats are worst.
In terms of current form, Galatasaray are doing a little better in the last five games. They have won four of them, including three in a row. They only lost against Kasimpasa. As for Konyaspor, they have lost three of their last five, winning once – against Karabukspor.
