Crystal Palace – Manchester City
After suffering their second defeat in the Premier League this season, the champions Manchester City visit Crystal Palace in London in a match from the 9th round of the competition.
This season is surely not going according to Man City’s manager Josep Guardiola. Right now the Cityzens are second in the standings, being 8 points behind the leader Liverpool. In 8 games played so far, the back-to-back champions made three mistakes, which right now puts them in a pretty bad position to defend their title again.
Two weeks ago Manchester City suffered their first home defeat for the season. Pep’s boys hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad and suffered a really dissapointing 0-2 defeat. Wolves scored their two goals in the game in the last 10 minutes, when Barcelona’s ex-player Adama Traore put the ball twice behind Ederson’s back.
The situation is pretty clear for Man City – after just 8 games played so far, they are already 8 points behind Liverpool. If they want to keep their chances of beating Liverpool for the title, they must avoid any mistakes at the moment. Especially when Liverpool are flawless so far – 8 wins from 8 matches.
Meanwhile Crystal Palace are doing really good at the moment. Roy Hodgson’s team is currently 6th in the league standings with 14 points, doing much better than it was expected. It seems that Hodgson is doing a really good job with his team at the moment.
In the previous round Palace enjoyed a second consecutive win in the league. The Londoners visited West Ham at the London Stadium and went home with a 2-1 win. Patrick van Aanholt from a penalty kick and Jordan Ayew clinched the three points for Palace.
In conclusion we can say that it won’t be easy for Manchester City against Crystal Palace on Saturday, especially in London. Palace are looking strong this season, while the Cityzens are shaky. Let’s see.
