Copenhagen – Aalborg
The champion Copenhagen hosts Aalborg in a game from the first round of the Danish Superliga. This match is going to be played on Saturday afternoon in Denmark’s capital city.
Being the dominant force in Danish football in the last 15 years, Copenhagen are now aiming to clinch a third title in a row in the Superliga. Last season they won the league with 84 points and proved to be unstoppable for the rest of the teams in league. This summer they have made some adjustments once again, so we should expect to see them even stronger than they were.
As for Aalborg, they were champion of Denmark in 2014. Last season was really dissapointing for them, as they finished 5th in the Superliga – too bad for a team who was champion just three years ago. Now Aalborg are highly motivated to improve this performance, so they will try to start the new campaign as good as they can. But they will have a really tough obstacle in the first round.
Copenhagen won the title seven times in the last ten years. This speaks enough of their dominance in the league. Aalborg, Nordsjælland and Midtjylland are the only teams who managed to stop their dominance, winning the Superliga once in this period.
The champions once again managed to keep their manager Ståle Solbakken in the club, which was really good news for the fans of Copenhagen. Solbakken is doing a really good job in the capital, so they would want to keep him as much as they could.
As for Aalborg, they will start the season with a new head coach. This is the 46-years old former international Morten Wieghorst. After managing AGF in season 2014/15, now he will return to football and manage Aalborg – one of the historical teams in Denmark.
