Arsenal – Aston Villa
Looking to improve their consistency in the competition, Arsenal are hostng Aston Villa in a game from the sixth round of the Premier League. We are going to spend few minutes to talk about this clash at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal won just two of their five matches in the league so far. Because of this, the Gunners are currently 7th in the league with 8 and a record of two wins, two draws and one defeat. The Gunners’ main goal this season is to finish among the first four teams in the standings and return to the Champions League. But how we said, in order to do this they’d need a better consistency.
Last week Arsenal missed a great opportunity to win against Watford at the Vicarage Road. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice and gave the visitors a great lead, but Arsenal’s poor performance while defending allowed the Hornets to equalise.
During the week Arsenal showed a much better level, winning with 3-0 their tough visit to Eintracht Frankfurt in Europa League. The youngster Bukayo Saka shined for the visitors, scoing a goal and providing an assist, while Joseph Wilock and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also scored for the English side.
Aston Villa are currently 17th in the Premier League standings after the first five rounds of the competition. The newcomers have four points won so far, being on par with Newcastle United and very close to the relegation zone. It won’t be an easy fight for survival for the former European champion, that’s for sure.
In the previous round the club from Birmingham hosted West Ham United at the Villa Park and won a point after a 0-0 draw. Every point is going to be important for Villa in the long term, so probably they are not so dissapointed after all.
We expect Arsenal to step up against Aston Villa on Sunday. These are the type of games they must win at any cost and they know it.
