Olympique Marseille – Atletico Madrid
Olympique Marseille faces Atletico Madrid in the big Europa League final in Lyonnais. Let’s have a look at what these two teams can offer in terms of starting line-ups.
We shall see Yoann Pele starting at Marseille’s goal against Atletico. Jordan Amavi, Luiz Gustavo, Adil Rami and Bouna Sarr most likely will begin as the starting four in defense. Rudi Garcia usually uses a 4-2-3-1 formation and we shall see Morgan Sanson and Maxime Lopez as the two central midfielders in this formation.
Dimitri Payet usually plays behind the striker, while Lucas Ocampos and Florian Thauvin shall start around him. For a lone striker Rudi Garcia shall choose between Kostas Mitroglou and Valere Germain.
Jan Oblak is the starting goalkeeper of Atletico Madrid. We shall see Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez as the starting two defenders, but Sime Vrsaljko and Stefan Savis are another two options for Cholo Simeone. Lucas Hernandez and Filipe Luis are options for the left back position, while maybe Tomas Partey will start once again as a right defender.
The captaing Gabi Fernandez and Saul Niguez are expected to start as the two central midfielders, while Vitolo and Koke shall start the game at both flanks. If they are healthy, we shall see Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa as the starting forwards in Atletico’s formation.
Olympique Marseille are a team which plays with a lot of creativity and fantasy, but for them it’s going to be very difficult to break Atletico’s defense. The Spaniards are experts in defending and they will give very few opportunities for Marseille to score.
On the other hand, players like Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa will be a huge problem for Marseille’s defenders. These two know each other very well and they know how to break a defense.
